Press Release: Japandi Foundation Charity Event.
The Japandi Foundation invited guests to a large event on Tuesday evening, March 19th, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Japandi Foundation (formerly Rapunzel vs Cancer) and the launch of the foundation's new name. Over 140 invited guests attended an exclusive evening at the Elite Hotel Mimer in Umeå. The evening featured a variety of surprises, including a secret performance by none other than Sarah Dawn Finer.















The guests were welcomed to Mimersalen by entrepreneur and owner of Japandi Group, Ida Backlund, alongside her mother Ann-Christin Backlund, who together are the founders of the Japandi Foundation.

During the evening, the foundation's important mission was presented, which is to collectively work towards providing funds for education and research in cancer. Also present was COO Sara Bergmark, who introduced Japandi Group's work in property development in Marbella, along with Evelina Boström, Head of E-commerce, who spoke about the new venture into e-commerce within Japandi Group. She also shared the exciting news that Japandi intends to donate 100% of the profits from e-commerce in 2024 to the foundation. Tove Dahl, the General Secretary of the Japandi Foundation, served as the host for the evening.
The evening's auctioneer was Sverker Olofsson.

Charity Auction with Sverker Olofsson:
A charity auction led by none other than Sverker Olofsson engaged the audience and Umeå's entrepreneurs, raising a total of 347,000 SEK for the foundation's work. Among the unique items auctioned off was a hand-painted painting by the children at Hjältarnas Hus, which fetched a whopping 100,000 SEK. The auction items also included exclusive experiences, artwork, a piece of jewelry from Efva Attling's yet-to-be-launched collection against cancer, a slalom lesson with Anja Pärson, and an event with the hockey team Björklöven.
Funds from the Japandi Foundation to Ida Kjos
Scholarship to Ida Kjos:
One of the evening's major highlights was when Ida Kjos, twin sister of fitness personality Elin Kjos who lost her battle with cancer in 2023, was awarded a scholarship of 100,000 SEK from the previously collected funds of the Japandi Foundation.
The scholarship is granted to Ida Kjos to create an event and provide education on the mental aspects of dealing with cancer for those affected and their families.
Ann-Christin Backlund, co-founder of the foundation, commented:
"It is with great joy that we allocate funds from the foundation to Ida Kjos and her work on cancer education. We look forward to following her important work."

Evelina Boström, Head of E-commerce at Japandi Collection, presented during the evening Japandi Group's venture into E-commerce within furniture, interior, and lifestyle products, along with the happy news that all profits from Japandi Collection's E-commerce in 2024 will be donated to the Japandi Foundation.
Evelina Boström commented:

We want to be so much more than just another online store. We want to make a real difference and have a purpose in what we do, and together with our customers, we can do good."
Ida Backlund, owner/founder of Japandi Group and co-founder of the Japandi Foundation, adds:
"Through this initiative, Japandi Group hopes to inspire other companies to use their business to make a positive impact on society. It also feels great, besides doing this with my mother, that all contributions to the Japandi Foundation go directly to charity."
Renowned Swedish singer Sarah Dawn Finer performed during the evening
A performance that surprised and touched:
The renowned Swedish singer Sarah Dawn Finer's unexpected performance set a perfect tone for an inspiring and memorable evening. With her warm presence and songs like "Moving On" and "Kärleksvisan" ("The Love Song"), she touched the guests and created a magical night at the celebration of the Japandi Foundation's 10th anniversary.

Subsequent dinner:
Following the event, the evening continued with an exclusive dinner at the Artonnittiosju restaurant at Elite Hotel Mimer.
